Refinishing of Fire Extinguisher After
An antique collector came to us to refinish this vintage fire extinguisher. The unit was composed of brass and copper, and measured 24" high, and 8" in diameter. Refinishing began with a full disassembly of the unit; we removed the hose and glass insert, and began with the multi stage buffing and polishing process. Once all of the major components were removed the unit was thoroughly cleaned. The first step of polishing was done with a sisal compound; this took off all of the scale and corrosion that had built up over many years. The unit was finished with other various finer compounds that brought it to a #8 mirror bright finish.
